This trade deadline rocked!

Terrible Headline "OH MY.........Gagne!" As in OH MY....GOD! I hate those headlines. This years trading deadline was flat out awesome with most teams making moves. The big moves will turn out to be the Red Sox getting Gagne and the Braves getting Tex. I've already spoken about the Braves so know I'll look at The Red Sox move. This was great for them. wWhat I keep telling people is that this is like when they put Schilling in the same rotation as Pedro. Any one disagrees with me on this is an idiot. You can never have enough pitching. Adding a strikeout pitcher with an ERA of 2.06 for just Kason Gabbard, Engell Beltre and David Murphy sis amazing. Gagne isn't the pitcher he was for the Dodgers but he was the best pitcher on the market. Theo took a strength (the Red Sox already had the best bullpen ERA) and turned it into a super power. The Yankees I guarntee are not happy. This is huge with Delcarmen, Hideki and Gagne leading up to Papelbon their bullpen is unstopable. It's also going to shorten the game for Red Sox starters and keep them fresher. Great move Theo.

The Braves along with Tex added Octavio Dotel from KC. It's Gagne but it's still a good move. This has to prove to Brave players that their team is in and they should play better.

Other moves the Yankees traded relief pitcher Scott Proctor to the Dodgers for Wilson Betemit. Why? Betemit was hitting .231 with 10 homers and 26 RBIs for the Dodgers this year. ESPN is reporting that the Yankees are considering as you utility guy for this season and possibly as A-Rod's replacement for next season. I can't believe that's true unless the Yankees are planning on sucking next year. Proctor seemed to be one of the few relievers that Torre had at his disposal that didn't cause Torre to have a cardic arrest to hand the ball to. I can't imagine Betemit htting enough this year or next year to justify a place in the Yankees lineup.

The Red Sox also got a bag of balls for Joel Pinerio. Good Job!It's better then watching him pitch.

Watching Jonah Keri's excellent chat on ESPN.com I got angry at the number of people who were talking about Adam Dunn and Grady Sizemore's strikeouts. When are people going to come into the 20th century and realize strikeouts don't matter that much. It will be interesting when Dunn leaves the Reds because they'll replace him with a league average player and then maybe we can figure out just how much his offense helped his team.

Going to see a sneak preview of Hot Rod tonight and I'm betting it will be a comedic master peice just like Anchorman. On the flyer advertising the movie it says "Rated PG-13 for crude humor, language some comic drug-related and violent content." Awesome! It doesn't hurt that the very hot Isla Fisher from Wedding Crashers is in as well. I predict it will blow the socks off of the awful Simpson's Movie.

In DVD news the excellent Hot Fuzz was released today. I wasn't a fan of Shaun of the Dead because I felt it was too "British" but I absolutely loved this movie. The special feature where Simon Pegg and Nick Frost do a scene as Sean Connery and Michael Caine is awesome. Still my favorite Connery though was Ben Affleck from the Chasing Amy commentary track. Still the greatest DVD commentary track ever. I must have listened to it at least twenty times.
