Trade Deadline and the Simpsons

Been reading alot about the trade dealine in the past few days and it looks pretty dead out there. ESPN reports that Rangers traded Mark Teixeira for Jarrod Saltalamacchia and shortstop Elvis Andrus. This is a good trade for both parties. The Braves add a solid bat to their core team and get insurance in case Andruw Jones jets via free agency after this season. And the Rangers get the Braves two best prospects who both play vital positions and will be under their control for years as well as releave themselves of Scott Boris sized headache.

The Braves had to do something to get their team going again and this was a good move. Already having 23 year old ALL-Star Brian McCann behind the dish and signed to long term deal made Salt expendable. Tex is a huge upgrade on Julio Franco. I just don't think it will be enough for them to take the division. The Braves that went the postseason every year were built on pitching and I just see them coming up short this year. But in a dry pitching market there was no upgrade available so they did the best they could.

For the Rangers it was obivous that Tex wasn't going to be coming back to them after next season so they got what they could. Their only problem was that they it made it so public they couldn't make a market for themselves. Everyone knew they had to get rid of Tex.

The Red Sox seem to be trying to land Jermaine Dye which seems like a good fit on paper. But the Red Sox are one of the teams on his no trade list and if they have to give up anything of value they shouldn't do it. My only question is playing time. They have Drew for five years, Manny for two, and Coco for two more in the oufield. The only answer I can find is if David Ortiz' injury is much worse then the Red Sox are admitting. As long as you don't have to give up anything of real value Dye is a good addition.

The thought of Eric Gagne in pinstripes terrifies me............

OK the Simpsons.................................walking out of the movie I said "Wow, that South Park movie from a couple of years ago was great." I had a lot of problems with "The Simpsons Movie". It was, quite frankly, garbage. I haven't watched the show regulary for a couple of years and the movie reminded of why I hadn't. It lacked focus and it just appeared to be the Simpsons writers saying "We know this is going to make a lot of money so it really doesn't have to be that good". It seemed like there too many voices. The fact that there were I believe 14 writers on it shows. Unlike the South Park movie I don't think this movie added anything to the series. Wow Bart's animatede penis........who cares? Wow, The put a bubble around Springfield.....who cares? The South Park Movie was hysterical and it added stuff that they couldn't get onto the TV show, so I feel it should of been made. The Simpsons Movie adds nothing and shouldn't even exist. They made it because they could not because they had something they wanted to say. I'm disappointed that it did so well raking in 71.2 million dollars this weekend because people will veiw it as a success when really it's just a mess. I'm stunned to find all the critics loving it so much. didn't they really watch it or were they just in love with because of their favorite episodes of the series. Seriously Ralph Wiggum in the beginning of the movie was the best part. Superbad will be much better and not get anywhere near as good reveiws. I'm seeing Andy Samberg's Hot Rod in a special sneek preview tomorrow and I imagine that will be far funnier as well.

Is it me or is this season of Entourage just really boring ?
